Flags of Glory Veterans Day Tribute - Fall/ Veterans Day Week
Each year Mobile Memorial Gardens partners with the South Alabama Veterans Council during the week of Veterans Day to pay tribute to America’s past and present members of the armed forces. Over 250 full-size American Flags are placed on display along the central circular roadway of the cemetery. Each flag can be sponsored in honor of a veteran or member of the military. The event begins with an opening ceremony either on the Saturday or Sunday preceding Veterans day.
Ceremony Of Remembrance - Christmas Time
In 2003 a ceremony was created at Christmas time with the families of those recently losing a loved one in mind. This is an invitation only ceremony for those having lost a loved one within the last 12 to 18 months. Families are invited to submit a photo so that a custom laminated ornament can be made for them and for a picture to be included in a video tribute. Limited space is available so RSVP’s will be necessary for participation and inclusion in the video.
Wreaths Across America - December
Also during early December Mobile Memorial Gardens participates in a program to both honor deceased Veterans and to offer comfort and assistance to the families of Veterans. This is a nation-wide program in which thousands of sponsored wreaths are placed on the gravesites of Veterans at participating cemeteries by members of local Veterans Service Organizations.
Stars of Hope Fun Run & Walk - Winter/ Spring
Supports the American Cancer Society’s effort to defeat cancer through their Relay For Life Program. This event is scheduled on a Saturday in early March of each year.
Easter Sunrise Service - Spring
Since the mid 60’s Mobile Memorial Gardens has hosted a sunrise service at Easter which is coordinated and conducted by the Southwest Mobile County Ministerial Association. The service begins at 6:30 AM at the Founders Lake on the west side of the cemetery.
